Can you really have total peace in your finances? I remember the day I decided to change how I was managing God’s resources.
As a Christian, I was managing my money the way the world wanted me too. It was all about accumulating stuff, living in a big house and having several cars. Additionally, people saw the external and did not know the turmoil that was going on inside me. I was living from paycheck to paycheck. In addition to my mortgage and credit card payments I had to pay 4 car payments.
Furthermore, I was obsessed with my wants and not my needs. It was difficult to make ends to meet. In like manner my life was filled with stress, anxiety and worry.
My divorce was final in 2010 and there was so much chaos in my life. My pride prevented me from seeking advice.
But, God has a lot to say about PEACE in his word.
I will lie down and sleep in peace. O Lord, You alone keep me safe
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
in light of my current situation I began to spend more time in God’s word. I began to get clarity on how I should manage the resources God has blessed me with.
God owns it all – God is the Creator, sustainer of the world and owns everything therefore this should change our mindset on how me steward God’s resources.
The Storm revealed my level of trust-I was trusting my own knowledge with my finances . In contrast, I began trusting God more as I read his word.
I learned over the years that the path to financial peace is found by trusting and fixing our thoughts about money on the one who allows us to wake up every morning to make a living. God’s word has over 2300 verses about money, so spend time in his word and you will have peace in your finances.
